Logistics for JRA5 and EMC2 Meetings
Venue
The meetings will be hosted by the INFN, Polo Scientifico di
Sesto Fiorentino (Firenze), located in
Building “Fisica A”, Via G. Sansone 1, Aula Magna
(ground floor).
The arrow in the picture points, more or less, to the 57 bus stop
and the building is the square one near it.
How to get there
Wireless access
The current Italian law requires that we obtain a copy of an ID
document of the applicant: this means no EduRoam (apologies for this),
but plain username/password.
To speed things up, we suggest that the
people attending the meeting arrive with a copy of their ID documents.
Hotels
We weren't able to reserve a reasonable number of rooms in the same
hotel in downtown Florence, so we decided to leave to you the choice.
The following are two of the many available lists of hotels in Florence.
- Three
stars:
Hotel Calzaiuoli, Hotel Gioia, Hotel Bonifacio, Hotel Centrale, Hotel
Alba, Hotel Delle Tele, Hotel California are reasonably near to a 57
bus stop;
- Two
stars:
Hotel Costantini, Hotel Desiree, Hotel Chiazza, Hotel Genesio, Hotel
Romagna are reasonably near to a 57
bus stop.
If you prefer, you can try a reservation office:
DISCLAIMER: please note that we have no idea on the quality of the
hotels.
If you have a car and you prefer an hotel near the venue, you can try
Novotel
Firenze Nord.
Once upon a time, they made special prices to the guests of the
Department of Physics: if you are interested, let us know.
Social Event
Florence is a very expensive city (for Florentines too!), so we weren't able
to find a cheap solution for a typical and sufficiently large restaurant in town.
Our suggestion is a dinner at Il
Latini, very central, which, even if very frequented by tourist, is still reasonably
typical. They offer a "degustation menu" for 45 €.
The restaurant is always crowded, so they ask a reservation at least 10 days
before. So, please, let us know as soon as possible if you are interested or
not.
Enquires to Elisabetta
Greco or Roberto
Cecchini.
